KEITH HARING

Keith Haring

Keith Haring was an American artist born in Reading, Pennsylvania on May 4, 1958. He was a prominent figure in the street art movement of the 1980s, known for his bold, playful and heavily stylized creations.

Haring's distinctive style was heavily influenced by the graffiti and underground culture of New York City. His art was a response to the political and social issues of the time, and he often used his work as a medium to raise awareness about topics such as AIDS, racism and oppression.

Haring gained international recognition in the 1980s, exhibiting his works in galleries and museums around the world. Despite being diagnosed with AIDS in 1988, he continued to work until his death in 1990 at the age of 31.

Today, his legacy lives on through the Keith Haring Foundation, which raises funds and awareness for AIDS organizations, and through the widespread recognition of his iconography in popular culture and contemporary art.
